Slater Mill

Field Trip!

We learned a lot about the development of the textile industry from the historic mill right over in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.  An off-shoot of that growth includes continued toxicity of the Blackstone River from long term, large-scale chemical dyeing practices (fishing and swimming in the river won’t be safe for awhile still).  There’s a great dye garden to peek at though and a whole shed full of flax to spin into linen!
